The unstoppable movement in Madagascar

The National Pioneers Initiative (NPI) has been working in the most remote and hard to reach places of Madagascar since 2017. This six-year journey has seen thousands of people introduced to Jesus and water baptised, and more than 500 churches have been established. Many of these churches are now self-sustaining.

As the project draws to a close, CV’s Impact-a-Nation African Coordinator, David Russel, visited the island to encourage the pioneers and see the significant results of their endeavours.

David met with some of the first pioneers supported by CV as well as a few of their successors in Tulear, and the town of Morombe. He also travelled inland to see pioneers who were working in the remote villages. He was inspired to see how exceptional and persevering these pioneers were in planting new churches in villages that had never seen a church or heard of Christ before.

Another highlight for David was visiting one of the vibrant churches run by the pioneer, Jacqueline, who was baptising 17 new converts in the warm sea water at Mangily.

“It’s incredible to witness the impact this initiative is having on Madagascar and to see how the pioneers’ work has developed into an unstoppable, transforming and life-giving movement,” Mr Russell said.

Please pray for the continued strengthening of the churches here – that the handover and transitioning phase of the project to indigenous leadership will be successful and seamless.
