Freedom found in prison

In a Madagascan prison, a woman named Elodie* discovered the truth of God’s love. Involved in the illegal trading of protected species within a National Forest, Elodie was sentenced to six years in prison. Her situation was further complicated by her pregnancy, leading to the birth of her child while incarcerated.

During this time, she met Tahiry*, a CV pioneer, who shared the gospel with her. Elodie dedicated her life to Jesus and despite her physical confinement found a new sense of freedom and joy in her faith.

In a touching tribute, Elodie named her child after the pioneer. She credits the pioneer for the assurance that her daughter will know true freedom and live in the ways of the Lord.

Tahiry also assisted Elodie in seeking grace in her sentencing, resulting in a reduced sentence. With only 13 months left to serve, Elodie has become a positive influence among her fellow prisoners.

Elodie’s testimony is an inspirational reminder that God has a heart for prisoners and that redemption is possible even in the most challenging circumstances.
