CV had an office in Ukraine with 35 staff before the war. Some of these employees are still able to meet in that office in Kiev. Others have been dispersed both within Ukraine and overseas.

Incredibly, they are still able to function, not without difficulty and a degree of ingenuity.

One of our staff, who managed to get his wife and child to safety, was asked how he felt. He replied that he was happy because his family was safe and everything else that was important to him was in his backpack.

When life is uncertain and there is the constant threat of something bad happening at any moment, you realise your true priorities.

What will you take? What will you leave? What will fit in your backpack?

Jesus, however, will go with you wherever you go – if you put your trust in him. He said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”

Many of us have become so comfortable with the things we have that we have lost sight of what is truly important.

Jesus said, “For a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things which he possesses.” (Luke 12:15)

The President of France recently said, “The age of abundance is over.”

If your heart is set on accumulating possessions, then you will be disappointed. However, if you take the opportunity to reassess what is truly important in your life, it will be a real blessing.
