The Teenagers View on Jesus

Did you know that the global impression of Jesus among teens around the world is that he is trustworthy, generous, and wise? Insights such as this have been revealed in a ground-breaking report released by US research company, Barna Group.

Almost 25,000 teenagers from 26 countries around the world have participated in a survey that questioned them on their beliefs about Jesus, the Bible, and their attitude toward justice.

The study, called The Open Generation, was conducted in collaboration with many global partners including CV, Alpha, Biblica, and World Vision.

CV Data Analytics Manager, Andrew Flynn, said CVs participation in a research project of this magnitude provides an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the cares and motivations of teens around the world.

“This body of research will inform our strategies to meaningfully engage with this generation in relevant ways as we seek to introduce them to Jesus,” he said.

“It will also enable us to strategically interact with our global partners with insights to help us together become more effective in our shared mission to lead people to God.”

Church and ministry leaders can use this information to shape their evangelism methods with teens in their congregations and communities – to be able to reach them in relevant and meaningful ways.

Offering a glimpse into the minds of teenagers today, this research shows the notable difference between Gen Z’s perspective of faith compared to those of the generations before them.

These findings are presented in an easy-to-understand data visualisation created by CV Data Analyst, Irene Strodel.

The global report has also been broken down into separate reports for the individual countries involved in the study. This means that ministry leaders in every region around the world will be able to dig into the findings, question by question, that specifically relates to them.

They will also be able to discover how an activism-oriented generation perceives justice in the world, and how a relationship with Jesus can impact this perspective.

CV encourages all church and ministry leaders to thoroughly explore the report to gain a deeper understanding of teens in their country. Visit The Open Generation.
