MALAGASY KING ABDICATES TO FOLLOW JESUS

The Madagascan regions in which our National Pioneers Initiative (NPI) is making an impact are deeply rooted in culture and tradition. Although no longer governed by a monarchy, the ‘kings’ here continue to influence and exert power over decisions related to matters of faith and other community activities.

Recently, one of our NPI pioneers shared the gospel with King Lily of the Antaifasy people. After hearing the gospel, King Lily asked our pioneer to teach him more about Jesus. He also asked for guidance on how to pray.

A week later King Lily called a meeting with his followers to announce his abdication from the throne citing irreconcilable differences as the reason; his beliefs no longer aligned. However, his resignation was rejected and he is now negotiating a mutually beneficial outcome with his council of elders.

Meanwhile, our pioneer has been visiting King Lily and his family daily in their home. We pray for wisdom and guidance as they grow in their relationship with Jesus.
