Madagascar Rebuilds

CV’s NPI Coordinator in Madagascar, Nic Strydom, has been providing updates on the situation as the country seeks to rebuild after two successive cyclones.

In February, while Madagascar was still coping with the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Ana, in which more than 130,000 people were displaced and 55 others lost their lives, news broke of the impending cyclone, Batsirai, being only days away from causing even more catastrophic damage.

Since these events took place, our team has been able to confirm the status and safety of all 69 NPI pioneers. Sadly, however, eight of the pioneers lost their homes and are now either living with members of their congregation or in their church structures.

Many national roads and bridges are impassable due to obstacles caused by flooding and blown-over trees. Nic is making every effort to meet and assist the pioneers who were most affected.

Please stand with us in prayer for protection for our partner, Nic Strydom, his family, and the 69 pioneers spread out across Madagascar. Pray for provisions required for rebuilding the homes and church structures, and for necessities such as food and clean running water. We also pray that the local church is a source of hope for the local communities and that they will experience the love of Jesus during this time.
