Search For Food Leads to God: Impact Eastern Ukraine

Here is a beautiful story of a life transformed through the National Pioneer’s Initiative in Eastern Ukraine:

My name is Yana* and I’m 48 years old. I live in the city of Konstantinovka. I am married and have a daughter who is 11 years old.

My life was not easy before I became a Christian. I had an unhappy family, a drinking husband who didn’t care about us and lived a life distant from our problems. I worked hard to help cover at least the basic child’s needs. I was constantly depressed by a sense of hopelessness, depression and need.

With the beginning of war, the darkness only thickened. I lived in constant fear for the future and safety of my daughter, as well as struggling with health problems, debts and conflicts with my husband.

In the middle of all this there was a ray of light. A friend of my brother told me that a Christian missionary help center had opened in my town, where they help people in need spiritually and practically, and where they pray for their problems. I knew I urgently needed to go there. Honestly, I went there without any spiritual expectations and was far from looking for God. I always considered myself a believer who believed in my own way and did not need anyone’s advice. My primary motive was to get some food.

But when I went to those first meetings in the mission centre, I really felt that there was something more! In that atmosphere my problems began to look completely different, and an unspeakable peace came into my heart. I felt hope again. I got the support of other believers, listened to sermons, and began to pray with everyone. In my heart, faith was born. I repented of my sins, accepted Jesus Christ in my heart, and began to attend all meetings consistently.

A year later, I decided to make a covenant with God and I was baptised. Today I attend the church with my daughter. Many of my problems still remain and my husband is not yet saved, but God supports us! Fear has left me, faith and hope have come instead. Life became different. We are grateful to the Lord for finding us!

Please pray for many more people to find hope and new life in Jesus through our pioneering work in the war-torn areas of Ukraine.
