Salvation, Protection and Freedom from Demons : Impact Myanmar

Currently, the CV Myanmar team is working with approximately 190 pioneers, who are pioneering self-sustaining churches amongst the Buddhist Burmese as part of the National Pioneers Initiative (NPI).

Mary San Myint Kyi, one of the pioneers, has been faithfully and actively visiting villages and towns to share the Gospel every week. I would like to share a testimony of a man who was introduced to Christ by Mary:

“My name is Than Zaw Oo and I was not a Christian before. I came to know Christ through my Christian uncle. One day, my uncle introduced me to pioneer Mary San Myint Kyi through whom I came to know more about God. When I heard her say to me, ‘Jesus loves you ‘, I felt that I wanted to trust and put all my burdens on Him.

Mary also taught me how to pray. One day, I personally felt the power of prayer. I am a coconut tree climber and I always pray first before I climb a tree, as the trees are high and the fences are sharp. One day as I climbed a coconut tree, a branch fell on me that made me fall from the tree. As I fell from the high tree, I felt someone was holding me and I was not hurt. I realised that it was Jesus who heard my prayer and protected me. Since then, I started to go to church and listen to the Word of God regularly.”

Pioneer Aung Myint Thein is also a God-loving and people-loving pioneer. He often visits Bama people and shares with them the good news of Christ. He is so active despite his age. This month, he shared with us a wonderful experience:

“One day, I visited a house to have fellowship and share the Gospel in Yangon. As we were having fellowship, we heard a neighbour crying and shouting angrily. I learned that she did so because she was demon-possessed. I went to that neighbour’s house and drove the demon out in the name of Lord Jesus. A moment later, the demon left and the woman was silent and returned to normal. People gathered and were amazed, and talked about Jesus who can conquer demons. There were about 20 people and I continued to share with them about Jesus. Five people out of 20 received Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.”

Please pray for our pioneers who are part of the NPI in Myanmar. Pray that their new believers and new fellowship groups grow and mature to be self-sustaining, as this is our main focus for the year. Please also pray for John Phyo, our field coordinator, who had a motorbike accident on the weekend, that he may have a complete recovery.
