Hope By Her Side : Ukraine

||

Our team members at One Hope have shared an inspiring story with us. We ‘d love to share it with you.

Aliya is an orphan in our One Hope project. We’ve loved getting to know her, but she has been very sick. For the last two years, she has been battling a very serious health condition that has weakened her immune system and has taken away her swallowing reflex. Even eating is a struggle for this little girl.

Given her condition, Aliya hasn’t been truly happy in a long time. Being so sick has meant that she has had to be separated from the other children in the orphanage, so she constantly feels isolated.

This was until one of our One Hope mentors intervened, following recommendations by specialists. Aliya and her mentor, Tanya, gradually developed a strong bond with one another as the physical, emotional, and spiritual support Aliya was receiving began to brighten her world. Change was in motion and progress was steady until, just recently, we received wonderful news: Aliya has finally managed to swallow and chew food on her own again! It is a miracle!

While this is a huge step forwards for Aliya, we understand that there’s still a long way to go on the road to recovery, so we continue to pray for this precious little girl and her health situation.

Tanya continues to play an important role in Aliya’s life and is currently teaching Aliya how to dance – in preparation for her very first holiday with the other children at her orphanage.

We are absolutely speechless and honoured to be a part of Aliya’s life and such a transformational miracle!
