relief from distress

Our online response teams regularly communicate with people who are struggling, helping to bring relief from distress in life or death situations.

This month, two people reached out to our team who were struggling with suicidal thoughts. One young lady said that she had been having suicidal thoughts since she was young. She told us: “To be honest, I don’t believe in God and I don’t want to have anything in common with Him. If He is there then why is He doing this with my life? I don’t see the reason to live the way I live so I just want it to end…”

One man wrote to us with this cry: “Please, help. I can’t live anymore. My life went upside down and I think of death all the time.”

These messages began correspondence with our online volunteers, who were able to share their faith stories, give encouragement, and invite the people to pray.

Some time later, the young lady wrote to us again: “Thank you for your warm words, I feel much better now. At least I don’t want to die anymore. Honestly speaking, you ‘re helping me to survive.” Our correspondence is still in process and we pray that she finds peace.

The young man told our volunteer that he had been a drug addict and had lost everything, including his business and close relationships. He now struggles with shame about his past.

The volunteer shared her testimony and began to pray for him. She told him that God could raise him up, forgive him and help him to move on. She asked the man if he had ever prayed to God. He had never prayed, however was open to hear the Word. So our volunteer explained the Gospel and the man prayed the prayer of repentance.

He wrote about his impression: “So I prayed and I can tell that I feel better. Something is definitely improving, thank you so much! You are one of the few who supported me. There’s still a lot of work left, but the main thing is that I don’t have so many bad thoughts in my mind anymore. I pray to God. I guess He hears me. I have more peace in my heart.”

Please pray that this man and woman find their peace in the Lord. Pray that they stay strong and find good Christian community. Also, please pray that our online volunteers would be strengthened in their ministries.
