Impacting Refugees : Papua

Our NPI Impact Papua Leader, Junior, is currently visiting our NPI teams in Eastern Indonesia. We have two house churches there that we use as bases for our pioneering work. Our partners have provided the land and foundations for the buildings and we are now building on them.

Junior shares of the impact that we are already having with the East Timorese refugees who have been living in Eastern Indonesia since the civil war in East Timor prior to its independence in 1999. When Junior first visited, he felt a spirit of hopeless and sadness at being long-term internally displaced refugees. Now they are enthusiastically working together on building this house church and they are saying that they have a new sense of hope and purpose despite their circumstances. Please join us in praying that some of these men and women will become pioneers and will go out to impact their nation for Christ.

Please also pray for Junior and especially his wife and daughters as they plan to move from East Timor to Indonesia this year. In moving there, they will face many family and visa challenges. As Brazilians, they need the right visa to operate freely on our behalf. And because Junior’s daughters have been educated in an international Portuguese school, it will be difficult for them to go to Eastern Indonesia where these facilities are unavailable. As leaders of the Impact Papua NPI and our friends, we want to support them in prayer and practically in this missionary move. Pray for the pioneers who have been sent from East Timor with Junior to start the pioneering work in Eastern Indonesia and Papua. Praise God, we are already seeing fruit from our national pioneer in Papua who is preparing to hand over to successors for her street children ministry.
