In May, Nastya* celebrated her 78th birthday in an unusual way. Her husband died long ago and her son was estranged from her. For the past 15 years, she’s been living totally alone. To add to her isolation, her neighbours had begun to blame her for witchery and stopped talking to her.

Nastya would have continued to live alone and abandoned if not for the National Pioneers Initiative (NPI) team, who had begun a home group in the neighbourhood. The pioneers invited Nastya to attend and shared with her the love of Jesus, who never leaves His children.

At 78 years of age, Nastya accepted Jesus as her Saviour. She happily says that Wednesdays and Saturdays are her favourite days because she sees her new friends and attends the church service. God is healing her soul from all of the pain of the previous years, and she is learning to trust God with her life. She even wants to be baptised soon!
