10,000+ People Hear the Gospel : Impact Sumatra

On 26 July, our first NPI pioneers gathered for Impact Sumatra. This gathering brought together more than 50 people: church partners, pioneers and NPI coordinators, along with local church leaders and business people from the northern part of Sumatra.

Leaders from 15 denominations and many different walks of life came together in unity. This gathering focused on training our pioneers about spiritual awakening, understanding world religions, and a mindset of entrepreneurship.

Praise God, through Impact Sumatra NPI this year, more than 10,850 people heard the gospel, 2,008 accepted Christ, 1,210 were baptised, and groups are meeting in 657 locations with 416 pastoral successors.

Following are just some of the miraculous stories that have taken place through the NPI work in Sumatra:

Finding the Prince of Peace

“I am a teacher in a non-Christian, religious school. I want to tell you about a miracle in my family. My eldest child had been sick for four years. We used all our money trying to find a cure, selling our land to pay doctors and shamans, and even praying at the gravesite of our grandmother, seeking her help. Nothing worked. We were so sad and stressed.

Praise God, I met a kindly pioneer who asked me a simple question: “Who is the Prince of Peace?” I could not answer him, but kept thinking about his question. I invited the pioneer for a meal and asked him for the answer. My wife and I were shocked because he said the Prince of Peace is Jesus and, by accepting him, we will have eternal peace on earth and in heaven.

Hearing this, I challenged the pioneer by saying that if Jesus is indeed the Prince of Peace, he must prove it by healing my sick child who has been bed-ridden these last four years. He replied, “If you receive the Lord Jesus first, healing will come.”

My wife and I received Jesus and were given a small New Testament Bible. Then, we prayed together over my sick child in Jesus’ Name. Amazingly, the next morning, my child walked out of the bedroom saying, “I am healed.”

We immediately telephoned the pioneer and asked him to come and baptise us in our bathroom. We are studying the Bible and sharing about the Prince of Peace, the Lord Jesus Christ, with our family and neighbours. Please pray for us, as we continue to grow in our walk with the Lord.”

Orphans Hear About Jesus Through Bible Stories

“My wife and I are discipling a lady who is a religious teacher in a non-Christian orphanage. She longs to have fellowship with other believers in Christ, however is afraid that her community will ostracise her if she is seen meeting with other Christians. Despite this she has read whole Bible and, as a teacher in this orphanage, shares Bible stories with the orphans. Amazingly, these orphans are now asking to be baptised. Not knowing the answers herself, we showed this lovely lady about baptism in the Bible and explained to her its meaning. Now she understands and wants to be baptised, and is explaining what baptism means to the orphans she teaches and cares for. Please pray that the Gospel would have great impact in this orphanage.”
